STIR/SHAKEN
STIR/SHAKEN is a framework of interconnected telecom standards implemented by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to combat spam robocalls that spoof fake caller IDs, before the calls can be completed. The legislation requires businesses to have their numbers certified as legitimate by their providers, or they run the risk of carriers blocking all their calls.
STIR/SHAKEN are acronyms for the Secure Telephone Identity Revisited (STIR) and Signature-based Handling of Asserted Information Using toKENs (SHAKEN) standards.
